What to expect

Outdoors every day

Woodland walks, the enclosed garden, and open grounds – whatever the weather. We supply wet gear, the children supply the curiosity

One Person Who Knows Your Child

Each child has his/her own key worker who assesses the child's learning, work and growth.

Daily Updates

Food, naps, nappies, and moments of joy – all logged and sent to you each day so you’re always in the loop.

A recognised curriculum from day one

Even at this earliest stage, play is purposeful. We implement a play-based curriculum following Aistear and Síolta, building the foundations for everything that comes next.

Settling in, at your pace

Once registration has been approved, parents will be contacted to discuss settling-in and start dates.

Before the commencement of the placement, children can avail of a settling-in period which provides for a part-time stay in the crèche.

Settling-in sessions usually begin at approximately 1 hour per day and gradually build up depending on the child's needs and comfort levels.

This process usually takes place over one week and can extend to a maximum of two weeks if required.

During the settling-in period, parents are welcome to remain within the service if they wish, while practitioners support their child in becoming familiar with the room and daily routine. As each child settles differently, the length of time a parent remains on the premises is entirely their choice and will be guided by what works best for the child and family.

The settling-in period is free of charge.

Please note there is no settling period offered for Afterschool or Sessional Care (Pre-school).

"Children learn best when they are free to explore, make discoveries and build confidence through their own experiences."

Hi! I'm Mary, the Team Leader of the Ladybird room.

I have been part of the wonderful Childhood Matters team since 2013.

Through my hard work, commitment, and further education by going back to college and taking relevant courses, I've successfully achieved the position of Team Leader.

I strongly believe in allowing children to explore their environment through risky play, messy play, and outdoor activities.

My goal is to ensure that every child in my care, as well as my team's, creates beautiful memories during their time with us. I focus on working with each child individually through child-led play experiences, helping them develop their skills and qualities so they can grow into strong, independent, successful, and caring individuals.
