In the Bumblebee Room, the children in our care are always our primary concern.

We provide positive and meaningful experiences giving the children the opportunity to progress in all areas
This is a time when children begin participating in activities for longer periods of time. A big part of our programme will focus on mini me yoga, music, arts and crafts, colours, listening to stories, and fun messy play where we encourage children to express their personalities through creative and imaginative play whilst promoting their self-esteem and concentration.

It is an important time for each child to learn about sharing and getting along with other children. This age group is very sensitive to language and you will be fascinated by the songs, rhymes, and stories they learn.

Through stories, children learn to appreciate language, gain new vocabulary, and learn to use new words and concepts. Simple songs and games are an important introduction to speech patterns, sensory motor skills, development, and movement skills.

Our weekly planners are child-led and we value the children’s interests. Parental involvement is of utmost importance to us. We ask parents to send in family photos for our family wall and to let us know if anything exciting is happening with their child. We work closely with parents to help with toilet training and follow the routine that is developed at home.

The room is attached to an enclosed garden with surrounding gardens. A favourite place for toddlers is the enclosed mud kitchen.
Each child has his/her own key worker who assesses the child’s learning, work, and growth.
An individual Aistear diary, observations, pictures, gems are done on an ongoing basis.
We encourage parents to review all the information uploaded on the Childpath app as they provide depth reflections on the learning and work of the children in the Bumblebee room.

Bumblebee Room Team Leader

My name is Mary and I am the Team leader of the Bumblebee room. I have been part of the wonderful Childhood-Matters team since 2013. Throughout my career within Childhood-Matters, I have spent most of my years in the Bumblebee room as I am exceptionally passionate about working with this age group. Through hard work, dedication, and upskilling by returning to college and participating in relevant courses I have been successful in obtaining a Team Leader position. I place a huge emphasis on children being able to explore their surroundings through risky play, messy play, and outdoor play.
